Change of plans decide to stay another dayat Wurrawong CP – Wilcannia. Go and visit White Cliffs another opal mining town.
Goats and emus abound around the flat saltbush landscape. Nearly ran over this fellow – commonly called a bog eyed or shingle backed lizard. He has a large blue tongue which he displayed in anger
White Cliffs is a dugout town. Meaning everyone more or less lives underground in dugouts in the hill. Mr GP in the mining area. All you see is mounds of white earth dug out from 30′ down. Landscape at White Cliffs
We went on a couple of walks by the river Darling
Relaxing with a glass of wine
Sat 14th Nov
We are now in Broken Hill. Silver, zinc and lead mining town in the desert. Community markets – very small and nothing to write home about.
Sun 15th Nov
Time for a game of golf. Broken Hill has the greenest fairways we’ve seen since April!!! And it’s in a desert!
Next tee Mr GP met one of the locals
He was a bit nervous and ran for cover. It was a frilled lizard basking in the sun.
Whilst playing we got invited to join the Vet’s comp on Monday
After golf we visited the Sculptures in the Desert. Massive sandstone sculpture sin the middle of nowhere
Gives you an idea of the size
The town in the distance is Broken Hill
Facetime the UK to wish Steph Happy Birthday
