The internet at Elliston became virtually non existent for some reason. Now at Coffin Bay with good reception for phone, Internet and TV. May stay here till end JAN – for Tennis Open.

The council at Elliston have tried to catch the goat. It can get out of the cave by going up. As soon as they get near it it goes back to the cave. Seems to have made a home there.
Drove North to see caves and the most amazing coastal scenery. The noise of the ocean is powerful.
View down to The Woolshed Caves
View from Woolshed Cave
as it says – The Tub – sink hole.
Return to Elliston via the Coastal Rd. Quirky sculptures, fantastic beaches and numerous birds
Cape Barren geese
Enormous Pacific gulls playing
Just when you think you’ve had a wonderful uneventful day – I smell boiling battery. Ollie reckons it’s the smell of the sea!!!!!! No, it’s the final battery. The auxiliary car battery. All 3 batteries have died in less than 3 weeks. Pop to local garage – has to order one.

New battery fitted – very efficient deliver.
The day of the steps!!!!!! 656 in total!!!! Went to Locks Well Beach & Sheringa Beach.
253 steps down. Apparently 20 years ago the fishermen let themselves down on a chain. All in order to catch “salmon” which are apparently not good eating!!! And they put them straight back in!!!!!!! Seems a lot of effort without reason.
Note matching drink cup with hat.
Back up the 253 steps – took longer than coming down!!!!!!!
Only 75 steps down this time. 75 back up seemed a doddle after 253!!!!!!!
Together with the wacky sculptures Elliston has many murals through the town. Another lovely spot.

Head off to Coffin Bay. Setting up the van I realise the steps got me!!!! Time to put the feet up and watch the Hopman Cup and Brisbane tennis.

Decide we’ll definitely stay in this lovely little spot for the next 3 weeks.Golf course is green, sea is blue and park is quiet and friendly.
Pretty in pink Liz!! My Mum grew up on the Yorke Peninsula and I remember her talking about visiting the “big smoke” (Elliston). W.A. has better coastal scenery than S.A. (my opinion) the only trouble is you are likely to be blown over by the wind! Enjoying reading about your travels but boy, you are hard on batteries. All things go in 3’s so hopefully that’s the end for you. Best regards, Liz & Frank xx
