Oh,oh,oh off we go – helicopter flight over the Bungle Bungle. I’m in the front seat and bouncing with anticipation – earphones on. Then I felt a firm hand on my shoulder I’d leaned so far forward and apparently there was another helicopter going the wrong way round and the pilot couldn’t see it cause of little me bouncing about!! I sat still for about 2 secs – then I was off again. Soooooo excited.
Back down again. What an amazing trip. Ollie thought we were just going to look at a couple of “beehives”. His jaw had dropped and he could have caught all the flies in Australia – he couldn’t stop “rabbiting” when we landed. He was go smacked – so was I.

Round the campfire as we do every night. Then off to bed at 7.30!!!! Exhausted & elated. What was I going to be like tomorrow when we walk in!!!

The tour group!!!
We walked into the Domes, Cathedral Gorge & Echidna Gorge. My photos do not do it all justice. You have to be there to really appreciate it all.

We left the Bungle Bungle for our last night at Brooking Springs Station. A last night under the stars with no lights to spoil the view. On the way we stopped at the Mary River and then at Halls Creek we looked at the wall of China. An amazing natural limestone wall that has burst up through the sandstone for 10K.

Our last early start 6am!! A final cruise up the Geiki Gorge
As we’d finished our trip we thought to sell the bus – no takers
What an amazing 12 days we had. It is impossible to to put everything and all the hundreds of photos we took in the blog. We hope it is just a “flavour” of our tour and besides “what happens on tour stays on tour”.
Liz & Phil were such great hosts, guides, drivers and cooks they made our trip such an experience. We wish we could keep them with us for the rest of the trip around Oz.
Thanks also to our travelling companions – Ann, Diana, Rod, Carmel, Debs, Pauline, Brian, Des, Jenny, Shane and Noel – don’t worry the secrets are safe with us!!!!!! One thing is certain every time we hear tents zips we will be reminded of all of you.
We never ever have done a tour like this before and it was amazing.
PS – I forgot – the winners,Des & Rod, guessed right 39 creek crossings!!!!
